Emily Smith is the founder and CEO of Side Nerd Apps, with 6 years of marketing consulting for Fortune 500 clients and 5 years driving growth for start-ups. Previous to founding, she specialized in marketing technology, strategy, and analytics. Since 2023, she has been developing Ither, a text-based volunteer tracking system that simplifies data collection for nonprofits. The framework designed for that volunteer tracking system can be applied to any human tracking problem. While serving as the primary engineer, Emily works with expert US-based specialist engineers to ensure our software follows best practices for scalability and security. She also works with interns, fostering growth and building learning experiences for UVA students.
